Job Description

Locum 4 Nurses is looking for a Healthcare Assistant to support treatment room and health checks for a GP practice in Beckenham.

Role summary

This is a hands‑on GP practice HCA role supporting clinics, observations and routine testing while keeping standards safe and consistent.

Main duties in a GP practice

  • Carry out phlebotomy, blood pressure, pulse, BMI and basic observations in line with protocols.
  • Perform ECGs and basic wound care/suture removal where trained and signed off.
  • Support new patient checks, annual health checks and health promotion activity.
  • Prepare rooms, maintain equipment cleanliness, and manage clinical stock rotation.
  • Record accurate data in the clinical system and flag abnormalities to a nurse/GP promptly.

Working pattern

2 days per week (set sessions).

What we’re looking for

  • HCA with recent general practice or primary care experience (preferred).
  • Competent in phlebotomy and basic observations; ECG experience desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality and patient communication.
  • Able to follow protocols and work within scope at all times.

Systems & ways of working

  • EMIS Web or SystmOne familiarity (desirable).
  • Understanding of infection control, chaperoning and patient consent.
  • Reliable and comfortable in a busy treatment room.
