Job Description

Locum 4 Nurses is recruiting a Locum HCA to support vaccinations, health checks and minor procedures for a GP practice in Newcastle.

Role summary

This booking is ideal for an experienced HCA who can stabilise treatment room capacity, vaccinations and routine checks in a GP surgery.

Main duties in a GP practice

  • Assist with seasonal vaccination clinics (e.g., flu) in line with training and practice protocols.
  • Support minor surgery sessions by preparing rooms, assisting with observations and equipment readiness.
  • Complete routine health checks including urine dip, BP, weight/BMI and lifestyle questionnaires.
  • Undertake phlebotomy and ECGs where trained; escalate abnormal findings appropriately.
  • Maintain stock control, cold chain awareness (where relevant) and infection control standards.

Working pattern

4 days per week (short‑term cover).

What we’re looking for

  • Experienced GP practice HCA with competence in core treatment room tasks.
  • Able to work confidently within scope and escalate to nurses/GPs appropriately.
  • Strong organisational skills and calm patient manner.
  • Up‑to‑date mandatory training and willingness to follow practice protocols.

Systems & ways of working

  • Experience supporting vaccination clinics and health check templates.
  • Comfortable preparing rooms and maintaining equipment/stock.
  • Good written documentation and attention to detail.
