Job Description

Locum 4 Nurses is hiring a Locum Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical triage and remote consultations for a GP practice in Kendal.

Role summary

This role suits a Nurse Practitioner who is strong on triage, risk management and remote consultation workflows in primary care.

Main duties in a GP practice

  • Manage telephone and online triage, prioritising patients and allocating to the appropriate clinician or service.
  • Conduct remote consultations, create management plans, and arrange face‑to‑face review when required.
  • Provide robust safety‑netting and follow‑up arrangements for worsening symptoms or red‑flags.
  • Coordinate with reception/clinical admin to ensure appropriate appointment booking and messaging.
  • Maintain high‑quality records with accurate coding and clear clinical advice.

Working pattern

Flexible sessions (choose 2–4 sessions per week to suit availability).

What we’re looking for

  • Nurse Practitioner with recent general practice/PCN experience and confident triage skills.
  • Excellent communication and ability to keep patients safe in a remote consultation model.
  • Strong organisational skills and comfort working with appointment workflows.
  • Confident escalating uncertainty appropriately.

Systems & ways of working

  • Experience working with eConsult/online consultation workflows (desirable).
  • EMIS Web or SystmOne experience (preferred).
  • Reliable, proactive communication with the duty clinician and practice team.
