Job Description

Locum4Nurses is looking for Locum General Practitioners in Moffat.

About the role

This locum opportunity supports a busy primary care service with a strong focus on safe, patient‑centred decision making. You’ll be trusted to manage your own clinics while staying aligned with local protocols and governance expectations. Your role is to provide dependable cover while supporting the practice’s approach to evidence‑based care.

Responsibilities

You will take ownership of booked appointments, working efficiently while ensuring patients feel listened to and understood.

  • Work within prescribing and safeguarding standards.
  • Complete structured assessments and triage where appropriate.
  • Support chronic disease reviews and health promotion.
  • Maintain high‑quality clinical notes and coding.
  • Deliver face‑to‑face and remote consultations.
  • Coordinate with reception and clinicians to keep clinics running on time.

You will follow local pathways and document decisions so the team has a clear clinical narrative.

Requirements

This role requires reliable clinical judgement, strong documentation, and a practical, patient‑first mindset.

  • A patient‑focused approach with calm professionalism under pressure.
  • Experience with long‑term condition management and health checks.
  • Excellent written notes, coding and communication.
  • Recent primary care experience in a similar role.
  • Confidence working independently and escalating appropriately.
  • Active NMC registration and right to work in the UK.

You’ll understand the importance of coding, quality indicators and consistent clinical standards.
