Job Description

Locum 4 Nurses is looking for a Locum General Practitioner to provide routine and same‑day appointments for a GP practice in Birmingham.

Role summary

This locum GP role supports both planned care and on‑the‑day demand, with a focus on safe decision‑making and strong clinical documentation.

Main duties in a GP practice

  • Deliver a mix of routine and urgent appointments, managing undifferentiated presentations safely.
  • Review test results, action workflows, and manage onward referrals in line with local pathways.
  • Provide safe prescribing, medication reviews and clear safety‑netting advice.
  • Complete clinical records to a high standard with appropriate coding and continuity notes.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider MDT (ANPs, ACPs, pharmacists, nurses) to optimise patient flow.

Working pattern

Flexible sessions (2–4 days per week depending on your availability).

What we’re looking for

  • GMC registered GP with inclusion on the GP Register and appropriate indemnity.
  • Recent UK general practice experience and confident autonomous decision‑making.
  • Efficient consultation style with strong documentation and risk management.
  • Professional communication and team approach.

Systems & ways of working

  • EMIS Web or SystmOne proficiency preferred.
  • Comfortable with referral pathways, safeguarding processes and results workflows.
  • Reliable sessional availability and clear handovers.
