Job Description

Locum4Nurses is looking for Locum Practice Nurses in Aboyne.

About the role

A well‑run surgery is seeking experienced nursing support to maintain excellent access and continuity for patients. You will work alongside GPs, nursing colleagues, pharmacists and administrative teams, contributing to a smooth, respectful workflow. Your role is to provide dependable cover while supporting the practice’s approach to evidence‑based care.

Responsibilities

You will take ownership of booked appointments, working efficiently while ensuring patients feel listened to and understood.

  • Manage minor illness, urgent presentations and ongoing care plans.
  • Support chronic disease reviews and health promotion.
  • Work within prescribing and safeguarding standards.
  • Complete structured assessments and triage where appropriate.
  • Maintain high‑quality clinical notes and coding.
  • Coordinate with reception and clinicians to keep clinics running on time.

Where appropriate, you’ll coordinate with the wider team for referrals, tests, and onward care.

Requirements

To be successful, you’ll bring proven general practice experience and the ability to work confidently with minimal supervision.

  • A strong understanding of clinical governance and infection prevention.
  • A patient‑focused approach with calm professionalism under pressure.
  • Excellent written notes, coding and communication.
  • Confidence working independently and escalating appropriately.
  • Recent primary care experience in a similar role.
  • Active NMC registration and right to work in the UK.

You’ll approach every patient interaction with professionalism, empathy and clear safety‑netting.
