Job Description

Locum 4 Nurses is recruiting a Practice Nurse to deliver immunisations, cytology and treatment room care for a GP practice in Driffield.

Role summary

This role focuses on core practice nursing clinics: immunisations, cytology and treatment room work that keeps a GP surgery running smoothly.

Main duties in a GP practice

  • Provide travel and routine immunisations in line with PGDs and practice protocols.
  • Undertake cervical screening and maintain robust recall/follow‑up processes where applicable.
  • Deliver wound care, dressings, suture removal and basic infection control procedures.
  • Support health promotion, screening and opportunistic advice during clinics.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, coding and stock checks (vaccines/consumables).

Working pattern

3 days per week (set days on a weekly rota).

What we’re looking for

  • Registered Nurse with recent practice nursing experience in GP surgeries.
  • Competence in immunisations and treatment room work; cytology trained (preferred).
  • Strong infection control and documentation standards.
  • Confident communicating with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Systems & ways of working

  • Comfortable working with PGDs, cold chain processes and vaccine stock control.
  • Able to work independently while liaising closely with lead nurse/GPs.
  • EMIS Web or SystmOne experience (desirable).
